Well, Opening Night of the NHL season is almost over. The west coast games are entering the third period.
Did your team play? How did they do? Have you made your season predictions? The ‘experts’ had some interesting Stanley Cup predictions. Tampa and Pittsburgh seemed to be the teams most picked in the article I read. But there was a pick for Nashville and one for Toronto, hum. Time will tell but hopefully the season will be a fun one for all.

Can you believe it? Hockey season is finally upon us. One week from today the first games will be played.
It is such an exciting time. Who will make the team? Will that young draft pick make it or be sent back to juniors? If he makes the team, how long will he be kept? What will the lines look like? Is that player going to be on wing or center? Will they run 4 lines all the time? What about defense pairings? Same top pair as last year? Where does the new guy fit? Who is the starting goalie? Will duties be shared? Will a Captain be appointed? Whom? Long term veteran or someone with only a few years? What about assistants? Then onto the game... who will score the first goal? Will a win be in the works for the first game? Such an an exciting time. Go team!!! As you can see, the Rookie Page is still under construction. I am still gathering information.
I also added some history to our About Page. As I was looking for information for the Rookie Page, I came across some fun facts I thought you'd like to see. Everyone is in camp now, so as you go to your games and meetings, remember I am always looking for pictures and ideas for the site. And news that other Clubs need to know or would be interested in. Happy preseason!! Teams will be heading to camp soon. That means our Member Clubs will be meeting. Trips to see our favorite team play out of town will be planned, watch parties will happen, we will be meeting at home games and manning our booth at our home arena and much more.
As as you plan, remember that we have a news page. I will continue to post updates on the. 2018 NHLBCC from Philly, but I will also post items from Member Clubs needing to get the word out to everyone on other items. So remember to email me @ nhlbcweb@gmail.com if you have an update. What was your favorite memory from this year's convention?
Watching Mike Trout get his 1,000th hit? Visiting the Lincoln Library? Pub Crawl? Friday's dinner? Saturday's dinner? The Zamboni Factory? I did not go this year, but mine is usually seeing everyone. I go so infrequently, it is always nice just to see everyone. And don't forget, you can still send me your pictures. And not only from this Convention, but from past conventions as well. Wow, it is almost a week since convention ended. Can you believe it?
I hear everyone had a good time and LA Kings Bioster Club did a great job. I bugged my sister to get me pictures for the site as the week went on. Hope everyone enjoyed them. I'll accept pictures year 'round and they can be from any convention. And news, I'll post articles too. We also had a suggestion to add a Rookie Page, so watch for that coming soon. Can you believe it, the 2017 NHLBCC us over. 😞I hope everyone had fun and a safe trip home.
As you can see, I kept bugging my sister all week for pictures to post on the site. I hope you enjoyed them whether you were in LA or not. If you were in LA, as you get settled once you are home, I'll still accept pictures for the site. As you can see, I have some holes in my coverage, so I would especially appreciate pictures that fill in the gaps. In the next week or two, I will be updating with more information from Philly. So make the site a regular stop. Counting the days to Philly... Finally!! Attendees have started arriving in LA!! Let the pre-convention activities begin!!!
And the picture taking!! And remember, when you email them to me, please include your name and Club. 🥂here's to a great Convention!!! In just a few days, attendees will start arriving in LA. Seems like just yesterday, we were leaving New York.
I saw Facebook posts by some of you arriving Sunday and Monday. When I go, I like to get in early too. Get the lay of the land, so to speak. Figure out where everything is in the hotel, what is around the hotel, where to eat and shop, that type of thing. Also, see who else is in early. One of of the first things I do is go through the convention book and see who else is coming. See if there is anyone I haven't seen in a while. I also like to to get my postcard writing, or Chris's postcard writing 😄, out of the way early. That way they are done and I don't have to worry about them. Then it is vacation time!!!! Wow! In less than 2 weeks, convention will be in full swing. Everyone will be relaxing 😎 now before getting ready for Saturday's dinner.
All the the tours will be done and hopefully I will have received pictures to post on the website. Don't forget to email them to me nhlbcweb@gmail.com with your name and club affiliation. I won't be on vacation 😔, but I will post as quickly as I can. Preconvention trip pictures are also welcome. So so get your phones and 🎥 ready! |
My First BlogHi everyone!! Lori, your site editor here.
I keep trying to think of ways to keep the site fresh and useful to everyone. I plan on switching out the pictures on the pages every so often, but I also want to give everyone time to see them. I'll leave the ones on the Past Conventions Page, but the other pages will change. BTW, don't forget you can email me your pictures. Please let me know what convention they are from. I have never ever blogged before, but I thought it might be a way to communicate and keep things fresh for those family members not on Facebook. So here goes. It is my understanding others can post here too. So feel free. Just remember, the Social Media Committee has the right to censure or delete inappropriate posts. I hope to post a couple times a week, as my schedule allows. Let's have fun! |
